I'm Laura!

​

I grew up in Dublin, Ohio and developed a love for both music and art at a very young age. With the encouragement of my parents and an amazing High School art teacher, I decided to further my studies in painting and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art with a Minor in Design Studies from Arizona State University's Herberger College of Art and Design.

I have always been fond of traveling and took a summer abroad in Florence, Italy to learn from the masters.  The art lessons from this trip will keep with me forever and a part of my heart will always live in Italy, along with an appreciation for Italian cooking, architecture and vintage doors.

 

I made the very spontaneous decision to move to the beach of Santa Monica, CA in 2011 . The beauty and lifestyle of the California coast has inspired my work tremendously with mountain and sea elements in nearly everything I create. There's nothing better than living steps from the sandy beach.

 

After nearly a decade, I said goodbye to California and my heart led me to the Pacific Northwest. I recently moved to Vancouver, British Columbia where I found a new appreciation for mother nature, fresh air, sunlight, birds, trees and snow capped mountains. I've seen 7 bears and nearly 100 bald eagles (and counting) and I couldn't be happier about it.

 

You will find an assortment of mediums, stains, papers, maps and books in my studio.  My work is inspired by texture, nature, shapes, music and color and you'll notice that I love the natural element of painting on wood and a pop of cadmium red!
